Cuartel de Ballajá (Ballajá Infantry Barracks Building)

Think your project is too far for rooflite® to deliver soil? Think again. On the island of Puerto Rico, Cuartel de Ballajá, a historic barracks building in San Juan, now features a 24,000 square foot green roof, made with rooflite soil, as part of a series of energy-saving retrofit projects for the building. The green roof can manage high amounts of stormwater, as seen when Hurricane Irene passed through Puerto Rico – the green roof on the barracks got through the storm with no damage. The building is now home to educational and cultural organizations and includes rest areas and viewing platforms in the green roof space.
